Warren Buffet 6 Rules For Reading.
I have been listening to Warren Buffet teachings on YouTube about how and what he has learned from reading over 500 books in his lifetime. I wanted to share it with those who subscribe to my blog/post regularly. This will benefit those of you who have made reading a habit and a ritual.
@theBuffetsMethod:
1st Rule) Read to build mental models, not just to collect facts. Extract frameworks for deep thinking.
2nd Rule) Read across disciplines. Read psychology to understand human behavior. Read history to see how patterns repeat. Read science to understand how systems work. Read biographies to learn from others mistakes without repeating them yourself.
"The most valuable insights come from connecting ideas across different fields."@the BuffetMethod.
3rd Rule) Read📚 with a pen✍️ Take notes📓 write in margins, highlight🔆 passages. The act of writing forces you to think deeply. It forces your brain to process and digest the information correctly.
4th Rule) Read📚 slowly and repeatedly. Don't speed read, read with intention. Reread important passages and books. Speed reading is about consuming information. Deep reading is about transformation, how you think. You want transformation not consumption.
"Your reading📚 should be structured. The reading habit is the foundation for everything else. Most people read sporadically, when they feel like it. Then they wonder why they don't improve🏋️ Your reading should be structured-no exceptions!
5th Rule) Apply what you've read immediatly–after reading something noteworthy--find a way to apply it within 48 hours. Test the idea-apply the framework--try the technique--if you don't apply it, you will forget it. But if you use it, it becomes a part of your mental tool kit permanently. Reading📚 must be paired with action.
6th Rule) Read everyday-without exception. Make this application non-negotiable. Read one hour every day. Reading every day is the best free education you can get.
